Dozens of law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene of a shooting on Lynch Street – only a few blocks from the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office and the Grenada Police Department – just before 8 p.m. Unofficial reports indicate that four people were shot, totaling eight shooting victims since early Sunday morning.
MedStat Emergency Medical Services personnel transported at least three of the victims from the scene via ambulance escorted by GPD and GSCO officers to the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada. Two AirCare helicopters and a third out of Columbus landed back-to-back-to-back to transport the victims to nearby hospitals for treatment of their injuries. A fourth victim was transported to the UMMC-Grenada Emergency Room by private vehicle.
One of three helicopters lands at UMMC-Grenada Monday night.
A large crowd gathered in front of UMMC-Grenada, while the gunshot victims were loaded on the helicopters for transport. Names and conditions of the victims have not been released.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The case remains under investigation.
