The Grenada High School Chargers will host the Lake Cormorant Gators in the annual Cancer Awareness game this Friday night, Oct. 6, at Charger Stadium.
As part of the activities, retired Grenada School District teacher Debbie Montgomery will be honored during pregame activities for her fight against cancer.
Also, the GHS Touchdown Club will be having a raffle giving away a 55-inch television and two Adirondack chairs. Tickets are $5 each or four tickets for $20.
Proceeds from the sales will go to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
The Chargers (4-2) are coming off a 14-13 road victory over Class 7A Desoto-Central last Friday night. The Gators (5-0) defeated Southaven 30-12. The game will serve as the Class 6A, Region 1 opener for both teams, which will play five consecutive region games in an effort to reach the Mississippi High School Activities Association state playoffs.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
