Funeral services were held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church for Ms. Candace Danielle Sasser, 39, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, March 22, in Grenada with her family at her side. Dr. Joey Faulk and Bro. Ricky Williamson II officiated.
Candace was born on July 12, 1985, in Tupelo. She was a graduate of Holmes Community College and the City of Grenada Law Enforcement Training Academy Class 003. She was a deputy clerk in the Grenada County Justice Court System and also served as a reserve deputy with the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office.
Candace will long be remembered as a friendly face at Jake & Rip’s, as she had been part of the Jake & Rip’s family for more than 20 years. Candace attended Providence Baptist Church with her family and was a deeply devoted mother to her children.
Her father, Hammond Aaron Sasser, and her grandparents, Rossie and Allie Broome, welcomed Candace into Heaven.
Those left to cherish her memory include, her beloved sons, Stephen Dakota Jenkins and Jackson Hammond Jenkins, both of Grenada; mother and stepfather, Deborah and Buddy Davis of Grenada; fiancé, Brad Eldridge of Grenada; sisters, Angela Abby (Jim) of Florence, Candy Rains (Kenneth) of Cordova, Tenn., Tammy Comfort (Mike) of Hattiesburg, Melanie Luckett (John) of Olive Branch, Rachael Ledford (Christopher) of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Sarah Steen (Benjamin) of Byram and a host of nieces and nephews.
Members of the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office, the judges and staff of the Grenada County Justice Court as well as her work family at Jake & Rip’s served as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Providence Baptist Church, 85 Misterton Rd., Grenada, MS 38901.
