The initial Grenada County Board of Supervisors meeting for 2026 was held Monday morning at the Grenada County Courthouse. All five supervisors were present for the meeting.
Board attorney Jay Gore opened the meeting with prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The first item on the agenda was to approve the minutes of the December meetings.
The Supervisors then reviewed the claims for the previous month along with giving authority to pay bills including the credit card report. They also approved the receipt report, land redemption report, justice court settlement report and jail meal logs.
The Board received bids from the following companies for bridge and road materials through Dec. 31. They include APAC of Richland, Double “S” Inc., of Grenada, StaCon LLC., of Grenada and J.C. Contractors, Inc., of Kosciusko. Commodities bids were awarded to Nunley Trucking Co. Inc. of Iuka for limestone; G & O Supply Company Inc. for poly and metal culverts.
In other action, the Board approved the request from Sheriff Garrett Hartley for unmarked vehicles, along with the request for the submission to the Mississippi Department of Transportation for License Plate Reader Cameras to be used on Highways. 7, 8 and 51. Approval was given for a request for reimbursement for the ongoing Gore Springs construction.
The Board also approved working cash authorizations for the following departments. Chancery Clerk - $300 was placed when the clerk was elected and will not be used as petty cash.
Circuit Clerk — $300 as working cash to not be used as petty cash.
Tax Collector — $1,000 as working cash to not be used as petty cash.
Justice Court — $100 as working cash to not be used as petty cash.
Landfill — $300 as working cash to not be used as petty cash.
The Board approved a request for payment for $1,397 for the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality Waste Tire Grant.
The Board will meet again on Tuesday, Jan. 20 for its next meeting.
