Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Billy Joy Moore, 84, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, Dec. 1, at his residence. Burial followed in Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Michael Payton officiated. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at McKibben and Guinn.
Billy was born on April 22, 1940, in Morgan City, the son of the late David Frankland and the late Ethel Marble Moore. He worked as a Forester with the United States Forest Service until his retirement, and also served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was a member of Elliott Baptist Church.
Billy enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He also enjoyed piddling around the house and was a self-proclaimed jack of all trades and master of none.
In addition to his parents, his beloved wife, Judy Moore; sister, Louise Lott, and two brothers, Grady Moore and Eugene Moore, preceded Billy in death.
Survivors include, his son, David Moore (Nikki) of Grenada; one brother, James Moore of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Hunter Moore, Nicholas Permenter and Kaylen Holloway, and three great grandchildren.
