Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Womble Funeral Home Chapel for Bertha Mae Lance Burns, 92, of Charleston, who died on Friday, March 5, in Charleston. Burial followed in Poplar Springs Cemetery near Cascilla. The Rev. Bobby Erwin officiated. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until service time on Tuesday, March 9, at the Womble Funeral Home Chapel.
Bertha was born on Nov. 22, 1928, in Charleston. She was a member of Stonefield Church of God.
Her husband, Charles Burns; her parents, Bertha Hall Lance and James Hunter Lance; sisters, Alberta Mitchell, Mary Westbrook and Mayferd Kersh, and brother, Jim George Lance, preceded Bertha in death.
Survivors include, her son, David Michael Hyde of Cascilla and grandson, Brandon Hyde (Paige) of Oakland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Tallahatchie General Hospital-Extended Care Facility, 1141 Dr. T.T. Lewis Cir., Charleston, MS. 38921.
