Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Lorene Sanders, 90, who passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Sept. 29, and now resides in her heavenly home. She will be laid to rest with her loved ones in Elliott Cemetery. Bro. Billy Little will officiate and Bro. Michael Payton will assist. Family and friends will gather from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at McKibben and Guinn.
Lorene was born on June 4, 1934, in Tallahatchie County, the daughter of Charles Lenoil Woods and Glendora Woods Beckum. She worked as a waitress at a few places, but most remember her working at the Holiday Inn Restaurant. There were times she was tired, especially if she worked a double shift, but she still gave her all to make sure each customer received excellent service.
Lorene’s many flowers brought her such joy in her life. With the biggest smile on her face, she would be proudly naming every flower and plant in her yard. She had a green thumb that could make everything she touched grow and multiply. Lorene also had a love for sewing. Thanks to her mom, she developed a passion for it.
Lorene was a member at Elliott Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Lorene was the heart and soul of her family and will be greatly missed.
Lorene’s life was also touched by loss with her dad, Charles Lenoil Woods; mom, Glendora Woods Beckum; husbands, Clyde Morgan and Roy A. Sanders; sons, Larry Ingram, Mike Morgan Sr., and Roy D. “Scooter” Sanders, and siblings, Elizabeth Lott, Lenoil Woods and Emmitt Woods, preceding her in death.
Survivors include, her loving family, sons, Billy C. Morgan (Barbara) of Lompoc, Calif., and Steve Morgan (Dianne) of Elliott; daughter-in-law, Beverly Sanders Whitt of Elliott; sister, Mildred McKee of Winona; brother, Frank Woods of Elkhart, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Blaylock, Drew Holland, Shane Ingram, Trent Little, Brandon Sanders and Barry Whitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaxon Holland, Lucas Raines, Daniel Signore and Pacey Whitt.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org
