Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel for Alyne McDaniel, 89, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, April 25, in Grenada. Burial followed in Indianola City Cemetery. Visitation was held from noon until service time on Wednesday, April 28, at Mortimer National Funeral Home in Grenada.
Alyne was born on July 30, 1931, in Arkansas, the daughter of the late John Thomas Clayton Petty and Winnie Petty. She worked in the field of education for more than 30 years as a teacher and a Title I supervisor. She was a member of Holcomb Baptist Church.
Her parents; her husband, Bro. William McDaniel; three sisters, Jerleen Cole, Pearl McCollum and Loretta Knox, and one brother, J.T. Petty, preceded Alyne in death.
Survivors include, her sons, Joe McDaniel and his wife, Joan, and Gary McDaniel and his wife, Theresa, all of Holcomb; two sisters, Ruby Buford of Madison and Alice King of Greenville; sister-in-law, Frances Elaine Deer of Holcomb; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
