Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Alice Floyd, 92, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, March 13, in Grenada. Burial will follow in Grenada Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday, March 20.
Alice was born on June 6, 1928, in Lexington to Millard H. and Annie E. King Whitten. She was employed at Grenada Hosiery Mill for many years and later in life provided daycare for many children. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada and worked in the nursery.
Her parents; husband, Gilbert Lee Floyd Sr.; one son, Gilbert Lee “Skip” Floyd Jr.; brothers, Burnice Whitten, Paul Whitten, Jay Whitten and George Whitten, and sisters, Alberta Campbell and Maggie Mott, preceded Alice in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Kim Taylor of Grenada, two sons, Randy Floyd (Irene) of Gore Springs and Don Floyd (Mary Ann) of Fort Myers, Fla.; two grandchildren, Drake McCammon and Graham Floyd and two great grandchildren, Kairi McCammon and Grayson Floyd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Children’s Department.
