The Kirk Raiders trailed 12-0 late in the first half of the season opener on Aug. 21 at Raider Field.
Just like 2019, the Kirk Raiders allowed a late touchdown in the final seconds of the half and trailed 18-0 at halftime. Carroll kept the foot on the gas pedal scoring 18 more in the second half to win a 36-0 contest.
Offensively, the Raiders could only manage 93 total yards, six of that on the ground.
“The first quarter and a half weren’t pretty, but we were still fighting,” Beagle said. “I saw some things that we can build on. Production has to improve on both sides of the ball. You can’t give up big plays and you have to move the chains.”
Mathis Beck was the star of the show for the Rebels. He finished with 210 yards on 10 carries and scored on runs of 64 and 75. The Raiders had no answer for the sophomore running back. Beck’s 75-yarder with nine seconds left in the half made it 18-0 at halftime,
Parker Goodson led the rushing with 17 yards on 13 carries. Tripp Taylor and Mason Byers both had nine tackles. Walker Staten chipped in six tackles and Montgomery Ferguson added five.
Kirk returns to action Friday night Sept. 4 with a home game against Tunica Academy.
Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
