Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Bayou Meto Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Ark., for Leona Raye Russell, 91, of Jacksonville, Ark., who died on Saturday, Feb. 26. Burial followed in Harvison-Carter Cemetery near Sulphur Rock, Ark. Bro. David Talbert officiated. Visitation began at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, at the church.
Mrs. Russell was born on May 10, 1930, in Moorefield, Ark., the daughter of the late Dan Monroe Harvison and Ethyl Boling Harvison. She grew up the daughter of a sharecropper and spent many of her childhood summers with bare feet. She was a member of Bayou Meto Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she was a wonderful christian lady and became the matriarch of a very large family.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 61 years, Bobby Dee Russell; a granddaughter, Jae Lynn Russell, and 10 brothers and sisters, preceded Mrs. Russell in death.
Survivors include, her sons, David Russell (Ann) of Russellville, Ark., and Ralph Russell (Becky) of Jacksonville, Ark.; grandchildren, Casey Leigh Rose (Adam), Abby Rae Blaylock (Travis), Kim Walter and Shayne Manning (Lyle), all of Russellville, Ark., and great grandchildren, Cole Walter, Bethani Walter, Rylea Manning and Carter Manning.
Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Ark., was in charge of arrangements.
