Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Jackye Staton Britt, 86, of Grenada, who died on Wednesday, March 2, at her daughter’s residence. Burial will follow in Grenada Memorial Garden. The Rev. Eugene Heimbach will officiate. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service on Sunday, March 6, at McKibben and Guinn.
Jackye was born on Dec. 20, 1935, in Leake County, the daughter of Robert Demos and Jeannie Tucker Staton. She worked as a Deputy Tax Collector in the Grenada County Tax Collector’s Office. She was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada. She was very involved in community affairs having served as past president of the Grenada Civitan Club as well as serving in several capacities at the state level.
Jackye was also involved in many aspects of the Grenada High School Band Booster Club for many years. She was honored to have been the first recipient of the John Wayne Haddock Memorial Award for valor, honor and loyalty.
Her parents; husband, Joe Britt, and sisters, Bobbye McKee and Carolyn Kealhofer, preceded Jackye in death.
Survivors include, her daughters, Jamie Farish (Heath) of Coldwater and Julie Dunn (Mike) of Folsom, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Amber Dunn, Kandace Smith (Tre), Macey Geiger (Cory), Brittany Dunn, Jordan Dunn, Mary Elizabeth Farish and Kylie Dunn and two great grandchildren, Hadley and Hudson Smith.
Pallbearers will be Dr. David Daigneault, Mike Dunn, Heath Farish, Cory Geiger, Larry Pierce, Tre Smith and Ralph Spratlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Britt, Steve Britt, Bobby Heath, Jerry Huddleston, Roger Lott, Robbie Parks, James Tharpe and Booker Thomas.
