Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, in Gore Springs Cemetery to celebrate the life of Mrs. Quay Orene Thomas Morris, 66, of Gore Springs, who died on Saturday, Jan. 2, in Corinth. Pastor Chris Owensby officiated.
Quay was born on Sept. 5, 1954, to Roy McDuffy and Macie Ophelia Burke Thomas. She enjoyed many years of enriching the lives of children in her daycare, Ms. Quay’s Day Care in New Albany. A devoted homemaker, she always enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Quay was proud to be a born again believer. She loved the Lord and enjoyed worshiping him with her church family at Way of Life Ministries. While her death leaves a tremendous void in the lives of those she loved, family and friends find comfort in knowing that she has arrived at her Heavenly home.
Her parents; two brothers, Larry Mardis and Jimmy Mardis; granddaughter, Eliza Jordan Nicole Thompson, and a sister-in-law, Frances Mardis, preceded Quay in death.
Survivors include, her husband of 42 years, Roy Morris; daughters, Sandy Mott (Reggie) of Houma, La., and Krissy Thompson (Jeremy) of Gore Springs; sons, Randy Morris (Anita) of Benoit, Kelly Vardaman (Parti) of Splendora, Texas, Mark Vardaman (Cherry) of Tulsa, Okla., and Brian Morris (Kerri) of Panama City, Fla.; sisters, Kay Austin (Bobby) and Hilda Kimbrell (the late Bobby Joe), all of New Albany and Chris Cheatwood (Paul) of Potts Camp; one brother, James Mardis (Margaret) of Lake Village, Ark.; 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
