Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, in Calvary Cemetery in Carroll County for Mr. Burley Newcomb, 81, of Kosciusko, who died on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.
Mr. Newcomb was born on Sept. 14, 1939, in French Camp, the son of the late Henry and Cora Carpenter Newcomb. He was employed by J.B. Hunt as a truck driver until his retirement. He was a member Calvary Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Conflict.
His parents; his wife, Sybil Newcomb; sisters, Eva Mae Peters and Ella Quay Sanders, and brothers, Herbie Newcomb and Howard Newcomb, preceded Mr. Newcomb in death.
Survivors include, four nieces, Linda Lane (Andy), Myra Smith and Gail Havens, all of Duck Hill, and Clara Dowdle of Grenada; two nephews, Carlton Peters of Elliott and Clyde “Buster“ Peters Jr. (Gail) of Duck Hill; one brother-in-law, Clyde Peters of Duck Hill and several great nieces and great nephews.
