The Grenada Star treated first responders to lunch on Sept. 10, the eve of the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists attacks on U.S. soil.
Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Representative Matt Bennett, Grocery Basket and Spain’s teamed up with the hometown newspaper as sponsors for the cookout, which was held at the newspaper’s office located at 355 W. Monroe St.
The cookout was also an appreciation for the time spent and cooperation of all first responder agencies in Grenada County during The Star's inaugural Salute to First Responders special section, which will publish each year in January. The salute includes individual photos, names and ranks of local first responders; letters to the community from Grenada Police Chief George Douglas, Grenada Fire Chief Ronnie L. Willis Sr. and Grenada County Sheriff Rolando Fair; city and county crime and fire statistics and advertisements from local businesses showing support for the men and women that serve Grenada County.
If your business would like to be included in this special section in 2022, call The Star at (662) 226-4321.
