Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton for Martha Byars Crumby, 75, who went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 16. A graveside service followed at 3 p.m. in Pittsboro Cemetery in Pittsboro. Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday, Nov. 22, at the funeral home.
Martha was born on Nov. 17, 1945, in Houston, Miss., the daughter of Bill and Grace Byars. She was a graduate of John Rundle High School in Grenada and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. After graduation, she worked as a typing teacher at Greenwood High School until she had her daughter, Tara. When she returned to work, she was a secretary at Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners and also later worked for the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and Saving Grace Sunday School Class.
Martha was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, and the best Mimi to her two grandchildren, Peyton and Grace. She always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
Her father, Bill Byars, and her husband, Tom Crumby, preceded Martha in death.
Survivors include, her mother, Grace Byars; daughter, Tara Greenwood (Joel); brother, Bill Byars (Linda); sister, Betty Smith (Robert); grandchildren, Peyton and Grace and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton.
Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton was in charge of arrangements.
