Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021, in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery near Kilmichael for Mr. Donald “Donnie” Hovas, 79, of Flowood, formerly of Greenwood, who died on Thursday, Nov. 11, in Jackson. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14, at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona. The Rev. David Haggerty officiated.
Mr. Hovas was born on Dec. 13, 1941, in Kilmichael, the son of Buddy and Lafell Oliver Hovas. He was a member of Valley Hill United Methodist Church in Carroll County.
His parents, and brother, Jerry Hovas, preceded Mr. Hovas in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 57 years, Margie Doster Hovas; daughter, DeAnne Biddle (Mark) of Russellville, Ala.; son, Todd Hovas (Dawn) of Brandon and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the University of Mississippi Medical Center Children’s Cancer Clinic, c/o Gina Beasley, 2500 N. State St., Jackson, MS. 39216 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
