Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Mary Sue Hayward, 86, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, Feb. 12, in Grenada. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery in Montgomery County. Dr. Brent Barker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at McKibben and Guinn.
Mary Sue was born July 19, 1935, in Big Creek, the daughter of Willis Edward and Alma Hall Todd. She owned and operated The Beauty Castle in Grenada for more than 40 years. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was active in the Sanctuary Choir and had served for more than 25 years as Children’s Sunday School director. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mary Sue loved keeping busy with canvas painting, cooking and working in her flower garden. She lit up every room she entered with her beautiful smile and personality – she displayed the love of Christ everywhere she went. While we grieve as she is no longer in our presence, we take comfort in knowing she held in her soul the cure to death, a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Her parents preceded Mary Sue in death.
Survivors include, her husband, Manly Hayward; son, Sonny Hayward (Marilyn) of Grenada; daughters, Janet Hayward McCaulla (Brad) and Pam Hayward, all of Grenada; four grandchildren, Will McCaulla, Stacy Williams, Perry Anne Thimmes and Ragan Hayward; 12 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ragan Hayward, Jacob Hoop, Brad McCaulla, Brady McCaulla, Will McCaulla and John Williams.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Mary Summerville for the exceptional and dignified care provided to Mary Sue.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be directed to Emmanuel Baptist Church or the charity of choice.
