Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. James Wiley Parker Sr., 89, of Duck Hill, who died on Saturday, Feb. 12, at his residence. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Duck Hill. The Rev. Tim Lane will officiate. Eulogies will be delivered by Terry Parker, Jimmy Parker and Tara Taylor. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, Feb. 15, all at McKibben and Guinn.
James Wiley was born on April 7, 1932, in Duck Hill, the son of William Wiley “Dunk” and Ludie Latham Parker. He will be remembered as a man who possessed a very strong work ethic and passed this along to his children as well. He was a heavy equipment operator most of his working life and also enjoyed a 20-year career in the freight business with Freeman Truck Lines and AAA Cooper. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Iuka and Unity Baptist Church in Duck Hill. He honorably served our country in the United States Army.
His parents; one sister, Juaice Windham; and brothers, Ronnie Parker and William “Punk” Parker, preceded James Wiley in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Dorsey Parker; daughters, Delaina Parker, Tonya Robertson and Tara Taylor (Duck), all of Duck Hill; sons, Gary Parker (Cathy), Terry Parker (Barbara) and Jimmy Parker (Jennifer), all of Duck Hill; stepchildren, Carol, Jimmy, John and Kelly; four sisters, Grace Windham of Duck Hill, Sue James of Duck Hill, Diane Mayo of Gore Springs and Yvonne Blakely of Winona; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and the mother of his children, Selena Parker.
