Willie Sam Ewing

A graveside service for Willie Sam “Blind” Ewing of Calhoun City was held Saturday, June 20, at Mt. Zion AME Church cemetery in Calhoun County.
Mr. Ewing, 68, died of kidney failure at his home on June 15, 2020.  He was born on Nov. 20, 1951.  Mr. Ewing worked for Randall Textron in Grenada, was a member of the Gore Springs Hunting Club and loved to fish, hunt, plant gardens and tell jokes.
Mr. Ewing is survived by his wife Betty Ewing of Calhoun City;  three sons, Willie Cornelius Ewing, Marlon Ewing and Mario Primer, all of Calhoun City;  two sisters, Ida Ewing of Calhoun City and Earlene Daniel of Bruce; and two brothers, James Ewing and Eddie Ewing, both of Calhoun City.
Clark-Williams Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Vernell Edwards Gray

Vernell Edwards Gray, 81, of Coffeeville, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.
She was born Nov. 18, 1938, in Coffeeville to Leroy and Lucile Haynes Edwards. Vernell was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church – Coffeeville where she had served for many years as church pianist. She had worked for over 30 years as personnel manager at Kellwood in Coffeeville and ultimately retired from Carpenter Management in Grenada.
While she was a loving mother, sister and friend, the title she adored most was grandmother. Her sweet spirit and dry wit will be remembered and cherished for many years to come.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 20, at First Baptist Church – Coffeeville with the Rev. Truman Scarborough and the Rev. Craig Baker officiating.  Interment was in the Broadstreet Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter Deana Gray of Coffeeville; son Gaylon Gray (Lisa) of Coffeeville; sister Vera Shows of Louisville; brother the Rev. James Edwards (Shirley) of Coffeeville; and a very special granddaughter, Novie Claire Gray of Calhoun City.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Patsy Hargrave

Patsy Hargrave, 75, born June 26, 1944, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 16, 2020, surrounded by family.
She has four children, Billy Fowler of Grenada, the late Judy Holloway and the Connie Hawkins, both of Belzoni and both deceased, and Donna Beavers of Tillatoba; Seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; ex-husband and best friend  James Hargrave of Belzoni. She was a loving, kind and caring lady. Graveside service will be conducted soon.

Jimmy Dale Medcafe

A graveside service for Jimmy Dale Medcafe of Grenada was held Saturday, June 20, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Holcomb.
Mr. Medcafe died on June 12, 2020. He was born on March 3, 1980.
Mr. Medcafe is survived by his father Willie James Bledsoe;  two daughters, Nakyrah Medcafe and Nyaria Medcafe, both of Grenada;  three sons, Jaheim Robinson of Winona, Nyarius Medcafe and Chayce Medcafe, both of Grenada; two sisters, Neva Willis of Grenada and Nekia Hayes Wayne of Killeen, Texas;  and one brother Wesley Medcafe of Grenada.
Clark-Williams Funeral Home was in charge of services.
