City recommends, not requires, wearing masks

The Grenada City Council passed an ordinance at a special called meeting Monday night that recommends citizens wear masks while in public.

The ordinance does not require anyone to wear a mask.

Ward One Councilman Warren Cox made the motion, which was seconded by Ward Two Council Pete Wilson. The vote was unanimous.

Grenada County, which saw an increase of 33 cases of the Coronavirus just last week, is now considered a hot spot for the illness. The county has recorded 164 cases and four deaths.
