James Anthony Arnold

Mr. James Anthony ‘Tony’ Arnold, 77, of Grenada, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Grenada Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
He was born June 8, 1942, in Calhoun County to James Everett and Virginia Ruth Brown Arnold.
Tony retired as a foreman after 44 years of service at Pennaco Hosiery in Grenada. He also honorably served our country, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major with the Mississippi Army National Guard. Following his retirement, he worked for a number of years at Lakeway Sporting Goods in Grenada.  Tony was an avid outdoorsman always enjoying hunting and fishing.  He also ran in 21 marathons through the years.
Tony was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Calhoun County.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 22,  at the Chapel Hill Cemetery at Big Creek.
Survivors include his wife Judy Coker Arnold; one daughter Donna Arnold Mills (Donnie) of Grenada; one son Jamie Arnold of Gore Springs; one brother Bill Arnold (Kathy) of Germantown, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Tabitha Nail (Bryan), Courtney Marter, Meagan Kemp, Brittany Haddon, Austin Arnold and James Michael Arnold; and three great-grandchildren, Bailee Nail, Noah Marter, Millsie Marter and Harlan Kemp.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Patsy Dyess.
Pallbearers will be Jason Golding, Al Hankins, Dusty Rainey and Mike Staten.

Gene Austin DuBois

Private graveside services for Gene Austin DuBois, 85, of Grenada, will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.
Gene died Saturday, April 11, 2020, at UMMC Grenada.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1934, in Tallahatchie County and was the son of the late Ernest DuBois and Dorothy Staten DuBois.
Gene was formerly employed at Heatcraft and was also a salesman for Electorlux for many years. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada where he was a former Sunday School teacher. Gene served on the Properties Committee and the Food Services Committee. He was also a choir member at Emmanuel and served as a deacon there for many years. Gene served in the United States Army and the National Guard.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Jenet Gray.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Willie Paul Nail DuBois of Grenada; one daughter Karen DuBois Wolfe and her husband Ted; one granddaughter Jinger Wolfe; one great-grandson Wolfe Babcock, all of Palm Bay, Fla.; one brother Earl Dean DuBois and his wife Till of Southaven; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Jack Smith

The Rev. Jack S. Smith, retired United Methodist minister and district superintendent, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Stephen Ward

Mr. Stephen Wayne “Steve” Ward, 50, of Grenada, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
He was born Oct. 10, 1969, in Grenada to James and Nellie Kerr Ward. Steve had spent most of his working life as a carpenter and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a devoted Mississippi State Bulldogs Fan.
A graveside service was held Monday at Wayside Cemetery near Scobey with the Rev. John Goldwater and the Rev. Tim McCaffrey officiating.
Other than his parents, his survivors include his wife Marsha Tilghman Ward; two sons, Dustin Ward and Presley Ward, both of Grenada; sister Becky Hathcock (Stevie) of Winona; adopted brother Lonnie Liston (Jean) of Martinsburg, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Johnny Tilghman (Patricia); sister-in-law, Teresa Tilghman; two nieces, three nephews and a host of great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jim Hathcock, Stanley Hathcock, Paul Jones, Donald Mullen, Donnie Stroup and Johnny Tilghman.

Timothy Woods

Mr. Timothy Alan Woods, 50, of Duck Hill, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 9, 1969, in Grenada to Thomas A. “Pete” and Lillie Dale Patton Woods. Tim had worked for over 28 years as a Design Engineer at Heatcraft in Grenada. Tim had earned a First Degree black belt and was very skilled in martial arts. An avid outdoorsman, Tim enjoyed camping, yard work and flower gardening.  He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
A graveside service was held April 18 at the Red Hill Cemetery with the Rev. James McElroy officiating.
Survivors include his wife Stephanie Fowler Woods; his mother Lillie Dale Patton Woods of Duck Hill; three daughters, Karly Woods, Samantha Byford and Kayla Golden, all of Grenada; two sons, Blake Woods and Steven Stroup, both of Grenada; two sisters, Becky Shepherd (Kenneth) and Barbara Bailey (Paul) both of Duck Hill; one brother Tommy Woods (Donna) of Gore Springs; three grandchildren, Bailey Stroup, Marianna Byford and Alan Floyd; and two adopted brothers, Benji Dale and Ken Sanford.
He was preceded in death by his father Pete Woods.
Pallbearers were Brian Burns, Adam Eubanks, Blake Guinn, Lee Holly, Ken Sanford and Tony Tilghman.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
