Justin Blaylock, 35, of Grenada, died Thursday, March 12, 2020, in Grenada.

Sammy Gerald Ferguson Jr.

Mr. Sammy Gerald Ferguson Jr., 69, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Grenada.
He was born Sept. 6, 1950, in Memphis to Sammy Gerald and Ann Newton Ferguson. He was a graduate of Coldwater High School and attended Holmes Community College. Sammy had worked for many years at Heatcraft in Grenada and was a Methodist.
A graveside service was held Sunday at the Magnolia Cemetery near Coldwater.
Survivors include his daughter Kerri Deason (Matt) of Grenada; three sons, Sammy Ferguson III of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Joel Ferguson of Olive Branch and Jamie Ferguson of Brownsville, Tenn.; six sisters, Suzanne Shorter of Hazlehurst, Elin Juchheim (Max) of Grenada, Joy Portera (Tony) of Brandon, Kathy Ferguson of Memphis, Dr. Patty Ferguson of Memphis and Jean Carpenter of Grenada; three brothers, Billy Ferguson (Maggie) of Duck Hill, Dr. Chris Ferguson (Christa) of Eads, Tenn., and Sean Ferguson (Connie) of Jackson; an aunt Mariglyn Meacham of Senatobia; and a host of grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Benjamin Lee Ferguson.
Memorials may be directed to the TV Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Grenada or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to his caregivers Mary Summerville, Regina Blackmon, Marcia O’Bannon and Demetris Perry for the exceptional care extended to Sammy.

Brandi Morrow Fortner

Mrs. Brandi Morrow Fortner, 33, of Charleston, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Brandi was born Feb. 26, 1987, in Grenada to Jimmy and Gail Busby Morrow. Brandi was a graduate of the Holmes Community College School of Nursing and worked as an RN since completing her degree, most recently as an employee of Diversicare in Batesville. Brandi enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting with her husband, and playing with their dogs. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, whose caring spirit will live on in the hearts of the many people who knew and loved her. Brandi’s love for her Lord was evident as she and her family enjoyed attending both First Baptist Church – Sumner and Red Hill Church of Christ. Brandi’s legacy will continue on for many years to come, as she gave multiple people a second chance at life by choosing to be an organ donor. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her life in knowing we will see her again one day.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at First Baptist Church – Sumner with the Rev. Shane Hoes and Bro. Ken Salley officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery near Duck Hill at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation is one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include her loving husband of four months, Matthew Fortner of Charleston; son Rylan Lewis Cress-Morrow; father James Lewis “Jimmy” Morrow Jr. of Duck Hill; sister Chasity Morrow Hood of Grenada; grandmothers, Jean Morrow of Duck Hill and Juanita McDaniel of Fayette, Ala.; father-and mother-in-law, Paul and Pam Fortner of Sumner; brother-in-law Jonathan Fortner (Sayward) and sister-in-law Anjanette Powers (Shane), all of Cleveland; and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Gail Morrow; grandfather James Lewis Morrow and brother-in-law Bob Hood.
Pallbearers will be Jason Boyle, Lee Boyle, Jesse Grant, Bubba James, Brian Litton, Rane Rayburn, Brian Roach and Josh Wilson.

Timothy Alexandria Murphree

Mr. Timothy Alexandria Murphree, 50, of Holcomb, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 4, 1969, in Grenada to Aldren Alexandria and Judy Huffman Murphree. Tim was a cattle farmer and a business owner. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed taking every opportunity that he could to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed traveling. Tim was a loving father and will be missed by his many friends and family.
Funeral services were Monday at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery in the Oxberry Community of Grenada County.
Survivors include his daughter Amelia Murphree of Grenada; nephew Cory Murphree of Grenada; aunt Dottie Saunders of Itta Bena; uncles Bobby Murphree of Tallahatchie County and Rick Murphree of Tippo, and a cousin Pete Pernell of Holcomb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Troy and Lee Murphree; and a nephew Justin Murphree.
Pallbearers were Ryan Branscome, Brad Hoop, Toby Mangum, Mike Moncrief, Patrick Moncrief and Pete Pernell.
