Both the Grenada High School girls and boys basketball teams had a lot to play for when they opened the Region 2-5A Tournament at home Tuesday night.
Of course, the opportunity to play for a region title with a win. Second, a win would guarantee them a home game in the opening round of the North 5A playoffs.
Neither came to pass.
The Lady Chargers have been bothered with turnovers throughout the 2019-20 season. That along with missing easy scoring chances and free throw shooting have been problems.
Against New Hope, Grenada was 10-15 from the line. The difference as the Lady Chargers committed 26 turnovers, including four in the final two minutes allowing the Lady Trojans to win a 43-40 decision.
In the boys’ game, the Chargers were bothered by foul trouble as they dropped a 54-37 decision.
