Gladys Carpenter Chamblee

Gladys Carpenter Chamblee, 83, of Grenada, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, in Grenada.
She was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Tallahatchie County to Homer and Nora Moorman Carpenter. Mrs. Chamblee worked at Pennaco Hosiery Mill and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at McKibben & Guinn Funeral service. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at McKibben and Guinn. Private burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter Beverly Pierce (Chris) of Benton; one son Aaron Chamblee of Grenada; one sister Lucille Harmon of Theodore, Ala.; two grandchildren, Skipper Pierce (Emily) of Knoxville and Kari Evans (Richard) of Canton, and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Abner, Doc Kelly, David McWhorter, Jeff McWhorter, John Moorman, Mark Moorman and Jon O’Rear.
Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene.

Bobbie Mitchell Williams

Ms. Bobbie Rae Mitchell Williams, 74, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford following a brief illness.
She was born March 23, 1945, in Grenada County to Melton Rae and Polly Davis Mitchell. Bobbie retired after working over 25 years at the USDA Farm Service Agency in Coffeeville. She was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church near Coffeeville and Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada where she served on numerous committees and was always willing to serve. Truly a people person, Bobbie will be remembered for her quick wit and sweet spirit. While her death leaves a hole in many hearts, we find peace in knowing she has seen Jesus face to face and joins many loved ones who have gone before her.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 1, at Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada with the Rev. Tim McCaffery and the Rev. Reed McCaleb officiating. Private burial followed in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Yalobusha County.
Survivors include two daughters, Tonia Bailey of Water Valley and Autumn McMinn of Sturgis; two sisters, her twin, Billie McCracken (Samy) of Grenada and Anne Lee (L.D.) of Crystal Springs; two brothers, Buddy Mitchell and Paul Mitchell (Debbie) both of Grenada; and three grandchildren, Cole Bailey, Anna Claire Phillips and Devin Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Robert “Hatchet” Williams.
Pallbearers were Coley Little Bailey, Terry Jones, Wayne Roberts, Hal Vaughn, Joe Walton and Ben Wright.
