It has yet to be determined who will appear on the May 4 ballot as candidates for the next Ward Two City Councilman.
City election commissioners have spent this week trying to determine he fate of two potential candidates, who submitted paperwork on Jan. 3 to run in the May 4 election.
This week, election commissioners worked on the forms turned in by Ward Two hopefuls Ret. Col. Tim Freelon and Stephan Whaley. According to commissioners, they had until Thursday (Jan. 16) to finalize and certify that paperwork. Both Freelon and Whaley are challenging incumbent Fredrieck “Pete” Wilson.
The Ward Two paperwork is the last step before the election process can continue.
According to Election Commissioner Bettye Chamberlain, after speaking with the Secretary of State’s Office this week, commissioners were informed that they had until yesterday to finish the certification process. The process was not complete as of presstime.
