When Collin Ray found out Grenada High School was beginning volleyball for the 2020-21 school year, it was a sport that the veteran coach wanted to take a shot at coaching.
The addition of the sport came about when the Mississippi High School Activities Association shut down slow-pitch softball statewide. School officials made the decision to add the sport effective the 2020-21 school year. The school board formally approved it Tuesday.
“Grenada School District is very excited about adding a girls’ volleyball program for the 2020-2021 school year, GS Athletic Director Lyle Williams explained. “This addition provides a sport that allows the girls an opportunity to receive college scholarships. Volleyball is the fastest growing female sport in Mississippi.”
