Derrick Cain

Funeral services for Derrick C. “D” Cain of Grenada, native of New Orleans, are Saturday at noon at Greater Pleasant Grove M.B. Church with burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Cain, 46, died of chronic respiratory failure at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham on Jan.14, 2020.
He was born on May 18, 1975.  Mr. Cain was a street sweeper and driver for the City of Grenada. He loved playing softball and watching sports.
Mr. Cain is survived by his wife Lorraine Hubbard-Cain of Grenada; four daughters, Jadice Marie Cain and Daisha Chrishun Cain, both of Starkville; Tiya Nicole Hubbard of Grenada and Keyanna Jones of Clarksville, Tenn.; son Cadarius Jawon Bland of Grenada;  three sisters, Katrina Wade of Simmesport, La., Jolanda Cain, and Monica Cain, both of Grenada; and aunt Gwendolyn Cain of Grenada.

Wilber Kenneth McLendon

Mr. Wilmer Kenneth McLendon, 70, of Tillatoba, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at his home.
He was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Tallahatchie County to Wilmer Norman and Willie Elizabeth Tillman McLendon. Kenny was a member of Tillatoba Baptist Church. He was a fomer mayor of Tillatoba, a former Mason and a business owner.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Tillatoba Baptist Church with Rickey Harris and Mike Ramage officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery in Tillatoba.
Survivors include his wife Beth McLendon of Tillatoba; three daughters, Nikki Newsom (Jeff) of Grenada, Lora McLendon Hunter of Madison and Melissa McLendon Bloodworth of Grenada; son Scott McLendon of Grenada; five grandchildren, Cody McLendon (Treasure), John Dillon McLendon, Brody Newsom, Addison and Abbigail Newsom; one great-grandchild Layne Hart McLendon; niece Maci Scott (James) and greatnephew Kyle Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Stephen Keith McLendon.
Pallbearers were Jason Beavers, Don Bowman, Billy Edwards, David Robison, Eddie Simmons and Jeff Tillman. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Chambers, Callie Hoop and Bobby Lofton.
