Emergency officials are continuing to assess the damage from Saturday’s storm that hit one portion of the county extremely hard.
Trebia Rodgers, Grenada County’s Emergency Management Agency Director, is awaiting confirmation from the National Weather Service as to exactly what type of storm hit Grenada County.
“That was more than straight line winds. I truly believe that was a tornado,” Rodgers said. “Of course, the National Weather Service will have to confirm that, but I truly believe a tornado hit Elliott Saturday morning.”
Bolton Hill Road and Sayles Road near Elliott got the worst of the damage.
Utility officials, the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department and Grenada County District One maintenance workers removed downed trees and fixed power lines just off Highway 51 much of the day.
