Linda Smith Carpenter
Mrs. Linda Pauline Smith Carpenter, born Nov. 14, 1939, age 79, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at Grenada Health & Rehab in Grenada.
Funeral services were Monday at Paynes Baptist Church in Charleston with interment in Magnolia Garden Cemetery in Charleston.
Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Paynes Baptist Church. She loved to can, cook and bake.
Survivors include one daughter Tammy Orrell (Frank), three sons Harvey C. Carpenter (Avonda), Keith Carpenter, Gregg Carpenter (Nancy), six grandchildren, Rob Hollis (Christy), Thomas Oates, Tad Carpenter (Lucky), Jeremy Carpenter (Franny), Curtis Orrell (Shelbi), Samantha Harris (Dayton); eight great grandchildren, Thomas L. Oates, Seth Hollis, Preston Hollis, Alyssa Oates, Maria Oates, Maddox Carpenter, Dayton L. Harris III, Isabella Harris, Anntadley Carpenter, seven sisters Martha Smith Muchmore, Shirley Smith, Sherry Hill, Jennifer Rose, Gayle Smith King, Juanita Smith Nichols and Amy Smith Richardson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Bobby C. Carpenter and her parents Henry Clay and Martha Kathryn Byars Smith.

Paul Dennis Holland
Funeral services for Paul Dennis Holland, 84, of Grenada, were Monday at Grace Presbyterian Church in Grenada.
Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Tallahatchie County.
Mr. Holland died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at his home. He was born on Aug. 7, 1935, in the Murphreesboro Community and was the son of the late Richard R. Holland and Effie Thomas Holland.
Paul was employed by Pennaco Hosiery Mill as a purchasing agent until his retirement. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Grenada. Mr. Holland was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Emma Faye Newman; and four brothers, Richard Raney Holland, Benton Holland, Carl Holland and Howard Holland.
Paul is survived by his wife Dorris Holland of Grenada; one daughter, Pam Allen of Madison; one son, Gary Paul Holland of Gore Springs; and one sister, Bonnie Morgan of Greenwood.

Billy Fred Little Sr.
Mr. Billy Fred Little Sr., passed away peacefully on Nov. 10, 2019, at the age of 88.
He was born Feb. 1, 1931, in the Oxberry community to Freddie and Orie Little. He was the sixth child of the 11 raised. He served as a sergeant during the Korean War in what is known as the Dixie Division. He met the love of his life, Etoyle Higginbotham, June 10, 1951, and they married Aug. 3 of that year. “He said, ‘I saw what I liked, and I hung on to it.’”
Together they raised four children, Billy Fred Little, Jr. (Sherry) of Senatobia; Debra Rivers of Olive Branch; Sandra Lucchesi (Ron) of Memphis and Bobby Little of Ridgeland. He loved his children, but loved them more when they gave him grandchildren. His number one saying was, “If I had known grandchildren were so much fun, I would have had them first.” They loved him just as much.
His grandchildren are Josh Couch of Memphis; Katie Couch of McKinleyville, Calif.; Beth Moore of Senatobia; Kyle Little (Anna) of Madison, and Patrick Rivers of Memphis. He also has six great-grandchildren, Zoie Couch, Wesley Moore, Maddox Couch, Fenton Little, Lydia Little and Luke Little.
Mr. Little had a great work ethic and finally retired from driving a semi-truck for Thomas Wood Preserving at the age of 81. He and Etoyle were faithful and devoted members of the Grenada Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Tully Little, Buddy Little, Dude Little, Doc Little, Cebo Little and Wayne Little; two sisters, Margie (Dee) Hancock and Florence Ratliff.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Etoyle; four children, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as two sisters, Mahaley Hames of Oakland and Lou Whatley of Grenada. Mr. Little is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
The family will gather to receive visitors on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada from 5 to 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev. James McElroy officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery at Oxberry.
Pallbearers will be Josh Couch, Ron Hames, Johnny Little, Kyle Little, Robert Earl Ratliff and Patrick Rivers. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Hames, Alan Hancock, Jimmy Hancock, Richmond Higginbotham, David Little, Freddie Little and Brent Thomas.
