It wasn’t the best week of practice for the Kirk Raiders.
Coach Ken Chandler wondered how his team would approach their game Friday against the Memphis Home School Nighthawks. Heading into the game, it was one that the Raiders shouldn’t have had a lot of problem coming away with the win.
It proved to be much more than that. The Raiders had a two score lead on three different occasions. That all changed in the second half as the Nighthawks hit some big plays in the passing game. In the end, the KA offense was able to score enough points and escaped with a 42-36 win in a game played at Collierville, Tenn.
With the win, the Raiders improved to 4-5 on the season. The Nighthawks are now 2-5.
“I didn’t think we were very focused all during the week or during the game,” Chandler said. “We may have had one good day of practice.”
