James Anderson Byford

Mr. James Anderson Byford, 89, of Coffeeville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.
He was born May 25, 1930, in Yalobusha County to John Edward and Myrtle Ray Jones Byford. He had worked for many years as a self-employed mechanic and auto body professional. James honorably served our country in the U.S. Army and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Saturday at First Baptist Church in Coffeeville with Dr. Clarence Cooper and the Rev. Craig Baker officiating. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife Mary Byford; three daughters, Janice Baker and her husband Dan of Coffeeville; Sheila Benoist of Collierville, Tenn.; Leslie Johnsey and her husband Donny of Coffeeville; three sons, Johnny Byford of Coffeeville; Jimmy Byford and his wife Lisa of Coffeeville, Gary Byford of Coffeeville; one brother John Carl Byford and his wife Louise of Coffeeville; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy Byford, Craig Baker, Barry Baker, Brandi Harrison, Lindsey Byford, Kim Ayers, Megan Baker, Brandon Harrison, Karrie Byford, Max Benoist, Casey Gaines and Taylor Benoist; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Louise Graham and Nancy Fly; two brothers, Charles Ray Byford and Edward Criss Byford, and a grandson Cody Spencer Byford.
Pallbearers were Justin Ayers, Barry Baker, Max Benoist, Jeremy Byford, Clarence Cooper III, and Brandon Harrison.

Sonya Cole Jackson

Mrs. Sonya Lynn Cole Jackson, 51, of Tillatoba, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 4, 1968, in Water Valley to Dale and Louise Wright Cole. She had worked for many years in food service at the Coffeeville and South Panola School Districts as well as in the office at Strider Academy. Sonya was a member of Tillatoba Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving, kind soul who would always put others before herself.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Elam Baptist Church near Coffeeville with the Rev. Rickey Harris and the Rev. Roger Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include her husband Henry Jackson; two sons, Hayden and Henry Lee Jackson; mother Louise Wright Cole; three sisters, Tina Smitherman, Debbie McIntyre and Kathy Kennedy; one brother Jeff Cole; mother-in-law Sheila Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Dale Cole and a daughter Haleigh Stephens.
Pallbearers will be Clay Boyd, Donnie Dotson, Mark Hartley, B.J. Jackson, Kenneth Rowland and Cody Tartt. Honorary pallbearers will be Clayton Boyd, Colton Boyd, Dalton Boyd, Tommy Boyd, Zach Boyd, Jackson Jarrell, Jonathan Kennedy and Justin Rowland.
