Annie Ruth Cristal

Funeral services for Annie Ruth “Ann” Cristal of Grenada are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Greater Pine Hill M.B. Church with burial in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Ms. Cristal died at UMMC-Grenada on Sept. 6, 2019. She was a 1975 graduate of Grenada High School and a caregiver prior to her health failing.

William Allen Bennett Jr.

William Allen Bennett Jr., 58, of Duck Hill, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, in Oxford.
He was born April 8, 1961, in Grenada to William Allen “Punk” and Neadeen Mabry Bennett. He was a surveyor.
A graveside service was held Thursday at Duck Hill Cemetery with Dr. John Boler officiating.
Survivors include a daughter and a son, Ashley Bennett and Austin Bennett, both of Kilmichael; his parents; sister Sherry Lancaster of Grenada and brother James Edward Bennett of Holcomb.

Mae Thelma Harris

Funeral services for Mae Thelma Harris of Grenada, formerly of Coffeeville, are Saturday at noon at Abundant Life Assembly of the Apostolic Faith Church with burial in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris, 74, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital on Sept. 4, 2019.  She was born on July 3, 1945.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her husband Paul Harris of Grenada; son Steavan Michael Hawkins of Grenada; two sisters, Dorothy Holland and Flozell Ann Booker; and three brothers, L.C. Nicholson, Alfred Nicholson and Billie Earl Nicholson.

Brenda S. Holland

Brenda Lee Sockwell Holland, 63, of Calhoun City, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019 at her residence.
She was born Jan. 5, 1956, in Lufkin, Texas, to R.C. and Emma Lois Walker Sockwell. She had worked for a number of years in the Calhoun County School District as a teacher’s assistant, and she was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
A graveside service was held Tuesday at the Bethel Cemetery in Calhoun County with the Rev. Jim Vance officiating.
Survivors include one daughter Jordan Holland (Shane Webster) of Woodland; one son Drew Holland (Stephanie) of Holcomb; four sisters, Rita Shaw of Norman, Okla., Raefell Duenow of Moore, Okla., Michelle Silvas of Virginia Beach, Va., and Leslie Sickler of Edmond, Okla.; four brothers, Cecil Sockwell of McCloud, Okla., Arthur Sockwell of Bethany, Okla., Billy Sockwell of Oklahoma City, and Jerry Sockwell of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren, Sarah Bowers, Jaxon Holland and Karmyn Grace Webster.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Tonya Vannoy.

Isaiah Lee

Funeral services for Isaiah “PJ” or “Jizzle” Lee of Charleston are Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark M. B. Church with burial in New Persimmon Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Lee, 30 died from injuries sustained in an accident in Columbus on Sept. 4, 2019. He was born on Feb. 22, 1989. He was a licensed truck driver and enjoyed playing video games and visiting with family.
Mr. Lee is survived by his mother Shirley Shoddie of Charleston; father Issac Smith of Lexington; three sons, Izion Lee and Issac Doyle, both of Pope, and Hunter Murry of Dallas, Texas;  two sisters, Marquetta Lee of Charleston and Rechelle Gunn of Greenwood;  and brother Lasedrick Lewis of Greenwood.

Lanier ‘Buck’ Naramore

Funeral services for Lanier L. “Buck“ Naramore, 81, of Grenada, are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at Elliott Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Grenada Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday from noon until service time at Elliott Baptist Church.
Buck died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
He was born on June 14, 1938, in Alabama and was the son of the late Oscar Naramore and Minnie Farley Naramore.
Buck was employed for many years by Binswanger as a truck driver.  He was a member of the Elliott Baptist Church. Buck  was also a member of the Crossroads Cruisers Antique Car Club.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents; one son Gary Naramore; one grandson B.J. Johnson; three sisters, Sandra Keel, Hazel Harville and Vivian Terry; and three brothers, Archie Naramore, Willard Naramore and Jerry Naramore.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Yvonne Naramore of Grenada; three daughters, Martha Burrows of Enid, Debbie Johnson of Duck Hill, and Patricia Tilghman of Grenada; two brothers, Floyd Naramore and Wallace Naramore, both of Water Valley; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bettye Jean Norris

Graveside services for Bettye Jean Norris, 83, of Duck Hill,  were Thursday at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Duck Hill.
Bettye died Sept. 10, 2019. at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born on March 27, 1936, in Duck Hill and was the daughter of the late Louin Lamar Norris and Christine Mitchell Norris.
Bettye was a registered nurse and retired after over 30 years of service. She was formerly employed at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of the Grenada Presbyterian Church.
Bettye was preceded in death by her parents and sister Vivian Patridge.
She is survived by two sisters, Bobbie Hutchins of Oxford and Kathy Robbins of Starkville; three brothers, L.C. “Sonny“ Norris of Toledo, Ohio; Charles Norris of Elliott, and Keith Norris of Winona; and many nieces and nephews.
