The mother of a child who went missing in Holcomb last week is now facing felony charges related to child neglect.
According to the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department, two women they identified as Cassandra King, 38, and Katrina Pounder, 37, are both facing charges of “deprivation of necessaries with substantial harm of a child.”
County investigator Deputy Eric Williamson said the two are being held at the Grenada County Jail on a $5,000 bond each.
Williamson said King is the mother of the little girl who went missing, and Pounder also lived at the home.
“This charge is a failure to provide adequate care and nutrition of a child,” Williamson said. “The department of human services (DHS) launched an investigation following the incident where the child went missing a last week.”
On the evening of Aug. 16, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation issued an Endangered/Missing Child Alert for a five-year-old girl in the Holcomb area. The child went missing from a home on Denton Road.
