The Grenada City Council is expected to soon set dates to fill the vacant seat of Ward Five, according to officials.
With the resignation of former Ward Five City Councilman Joshua Hughes last week, the seat is now vacant and, according to Grenada Mayor Billy Collins, the city will have 45 days to hold an election to fill the vacancy.

“As of right now the city council has not set a date,” Collins said. “Being that everything is happening so fast, the council will meet and set a date.”
Hughes resigned after pleading guilty in Grenada County Circuit Court to a felony charge of conspiracy to commit a crime.
