Jimmy Dell Beck

Mr. Jimmy Dell Beck, 75, of Grenada, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center-Grenada.

He was born July 5, 1944, in Carroll County to Clarence Coleman and Tessie Carpenter Beck. Mr. Beck was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and had served in the Mississippi National Guard. Jimmy Dell was an avid hunter, but his passions were cattle and fishing. Mr. Beck served on the Grenada County Board of Supervisors for 12 years, eight of those as president. After his time as a Grenada County Supervisor, he ultimately retired after working for a number of years at J.J. Ferguson in Greenwood.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 10, at Liberty Baptist Church in the Jefferson Community of Carroll County with the Rev. James McElroy and the Rev. Rick Shepherd officiating. Interment  followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Kathy McGregor Beck; daughter Darlene Ledbetter (John) of Columbus; son Chris Beck of Grenada; two sisters, Peggy Holloway of Grenada and Polly Montgomery of Vaiden; five grandchildren, Michael, McGee, Rebecca, Kimberly and Catherine, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Doris Lott, Aileen Allison, Ruby Pierce and Joy Dean Simmons; and three brothers, J.W., James and Charles Beck.

Pallbearers were Bill Beck, Danny Beck, Ray Beck, Michael Lott, Drew Parks and Wayne Stark. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Carpenter, Phil Embry, Columbus Hankins, Dynamite Kirk, Todd Kyle, Ben McElwrath, Joel Turnipseed and Spencer Williams.

Gray H. Little

Mr. Gray H. Little, 90, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center-Grenada.

He was born July 13, 1929, in Tallahatchie County to Harrison and Bertha Lowry Little. Mr. Little established his company, Gray H. Little General Contractor, over 50 years ago. Gray was blessed to see the second and third generation of his family continue working in the business that bears his name.  Mr. Little served our country honorably in the U.S. Army 92nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean Conflict, and he was also a member of First Baptist Church, Grenada.

Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 10, at First Baptist Church with Dr. John Boler officiating. Interment followed in the Grenada Memorial Garden.

Survivors include his wife Bettie Henry Little; one son Michael G. Little (Donna) of Grenada; one brother Earl Little (Peggy) of Southaven; three grandchildren, Andrew Little, Skyler Mays (Emily) and Sterling Mays (Amanda); and three great-grandchildren, Elliott and Andy Mays and Hadyn Mooney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Carol Little; one son David Little; and two brothers, Fonda Little and Elwood Little.

Pallbearers were Warren Cox, Jackie Henry, Andrew Little, Skyler Mays, Daryl Pryor, Will Tartt and Jim Thomas.

Joann D. Williams

Funeral services for Joann D. “Jo” Williams are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Greater Pleasant Grove with burial at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Williams, 47, died at Greenwood Leflore Hospital on Aug. 6, 2019. She was born on Sept. 18, 1971.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband Tony Williams; her mother Getrude Drinkwater of Grenada; father A.C. Drinkwater of Grenada; three daughters, Shundra Conley, Kiarra Drinkwater and Tearria Drinkwater, all of Grenada; two sons, Antonio Drinkwater and Tony Drinkwater, both of Grenada  three sisters, Sara Drinkwater of Jackson, Mary Nash of Chicago, and Carolyn Drinkwater of Grenada; and one brother Earnest Drinkwater of Grenada.
