Tammy Kay Hillhouse

Tammy Kay Hillhouse, 47, of Grenada, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 22, 1971, in Grenada and had worked as a pharmacy clerk for a number of years and was a homemaker. Ms. Hillhouse was a devoted animal lover and a history buff.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev. James Melton officiating. Interment will follow in the Duck Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Tuesday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include her fiancé Jerry Smart; one daughter Christy Covington of Columbus; one son Jeremy Smart of Grenada; father Robert Hillhouse of Spokane, Wash.; step-father, Jerry Bennett of Grenada; four sisters, Tana McCollough of Duck Hill, Tina Hillhouse of Water Valley, Toni Hillhouse and Vicki Hillhouse, both of Washington; two brothers, Kent Bennett of Grenada and Eric Hillhouse of Washington; and four grandchildren, Landyn Smart, Jackson, Parker and Wesley Covington.

Sonja Maxine Samples

Sonja Maxine Samples, 59, of Gore Springs, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center-Jackson.

She was born Aug. 15, 1959, in Lodi, Calif., to Malcolm Earl McGregor Jr. and Edna Maxine Aldridge McGregor. She had worked in customer service for many years. While no services are planned at this time, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Maxine Samples of Gore Springs and Desiree Maureen Holden of Grenada; son Justin Samples (Sidney) of Grenada; one sister Hydee Lynn McGregor of California; three brothers, Ricky, Danny and Gary Barbee of California; 11 grandchildren, AJ Salinas, December Logan, Dylan Willie, Robert Logan IV, Dustin Willie, Cameron Logan, Billy Logan, Brooklynn Willie, Alexxis Cook, Marcus Cook, Micah Samples and another expected in October, Noa Samples; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Jasper, Morgan Jasper and Maleah Willie; and a special niece, Adan Grace Pellor.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Karla Bush and Cheryl Barbee.

Chason Rivers Snyder

Chason Rivers Snyder, 17, of Grenada, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019, at his residence.

He was born April 10, 2002.

Rivers had been a student in the Grenada Schools and enjoyed playing games and shooting guns. He was a shark enthusiast.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Wednesday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Ellen Summerford and David Dean of Grenada; one brother Remington Summerford (Crystal) of Grenada; step-brother, Clayton Dean of Ackerman and half-sister Brooklyn Carter of Pine Bluff, Ark. He was preceded in death by his father James Danny Snyder Jr.

Pallbearers will be Evans Ashley, Clayton Dean, T.K. McCammon, Jonathan Snyder, Remington Summerford and Glen Tharp.

David Stricklin

David Strickland, 76, of Tillatoba died June 9, 2019, at UMMC. Services were in Clarksdale at Oakridge Cemetery.

He is survived by one brother Jerry Strickland of Florida; daughter Stephanie Whitehead of Independence, Miss.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Skeeter Robinson Funeral Home was in charge.
