Frances Simpson Johnson

Mrs. Frances Delores Simpson Johnson, 86, passed away July 7, 2019, at home in Montgomery, Ala., after a brief illness.
She was born March 11, 1933, to Ben T. Simpson and Mabel Richards Simpson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Coffeeville United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, at the Coffeeville United Methodist Church. Immediately following visitation, a graveside service will be held at the Elam Cemetery with the Rev. Charlie Simmons officiating.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi Johnson Whittington and Dr. Lynn K. Whittington; grandson Brian T. Whittington, all of Montgomery; brother Henry R. Simpson of Monument, Colo.; sister Sue S. Hutchison of Sallis, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby L. Johnson; son Glenn M. “Bo” Johnson; her parents; brother Robert L. Simpson; and her sisters, Lorraine S. Dyer, Dorothy S. Glenn and Marie S. Pittman.

Arthur Thomas Miles

Arthur Thomas Miles (Tom), 72, of Fulton, beloved Daddy, Papa, and brother, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on July 3, 2019, at the home of his daughter in Grenada.
Tom was born in Memphis to Anzley and Ruby Miles on Sept. 25, 1946. He graduated from Zion Benton Township High School in Zion, Ill., Class of 1965. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  For the last 14 years he was able to fulfil his love of travel by being a truck driver.
He is preceded in death by both his parents and infant son Arthur Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Archibald of St. Cloud, Fla., and McKenzie (Michael) Campbell of Grenada; brothers, Nelson (Barbara) Miles of Clermont, Fla., and Danny (Stephanie) Miles of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren Andrew Stanton, Ruby Stanton, Hannah Archibald, Emma Archibald, Evan Campbell and Dalton Campbell; nieces, Tami Miles Senich, Tracy Miles Stone, Danielle Miles; nephew Kurt Miles.
Services will be private for the family.  A Celebration of Life is planned on Saturday, July 20, at his niece’s home in Memphis.

Estelle W. Rivera

Funeral services for Estelle W. Rivera of Grenada, formerly of Chicago, are Friday at 10 a.m. at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rivera, 88, died on July 8, 2019, at the Grenada Living Center. She was born on July 24, 1930. Mrs. Rivera was a cosmetologist and a homemaker.
Mrs. Rivera is survived by two daughters, Yvette Sanders-Money and Veronica Gilliam, both of Grenada;  and three sons, Zedrick Sanders of Grenada, Anthony Sanders of Florida, and Tyrone Sanders of Chicago.

Larry Swearengen

Funeral services for Larry Swearengen of Grenada, formerly of Scobey, are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cottage Hill M. B. Church with burial in Fleming Cemetery.
Mr. Swearengen, 42, died on July 4, 2019, at Grenada Rehabilitation and Healthcare Facility. He was born on Oct. 23, 1976.

Flora Evans Welch

Mrs. Flora Rebecca Evans Welch, 90, a long-time resident of Holcomb, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at her residence.
She was born July 27, 1928, in Sledge to Rowe and Annie Eliza Evans. Mrs. Welch was a devoted homemaker, member of Hillside Baptist Church and was a very talented quilter. Her sweet, caring spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 11, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev. Jerry McNeer officiating. Interment followed in the Leflore Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter Margaret Ward of Holcomb; two sons, Bob Welch (Mary) of Leflore and Randy Welch (Linda) of Holcomb; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Oscar William Welch; two daughters, Lula Young and Nettie Minyard; two sons, Bud Welch and Charles Edward Welch, and a granddaughter Tina Minyard Robertson.
Pallbearers were Josh Connerley, Mickey Miller, Gordon Minyard, Chris Robertson, Daniel Simpson and Jason Whitsell.

James Oliver Williams

Funeral services for James Oliver “Mr. Grenada” Williams of Grenada, are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Burining Bush M.B. Church with burial in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Williams, 57, died on July 3, 2019, at the Grenada Rehabilitation and Healthcare Facility. He was born on March 5, 1962.
Mr. Williams is survived by his mother Betty Williams of Grenada; three daughters, Sheena Williams-Bledsoe of Phoenix, Ariz., Jasmine Williams-Lopez of Chicago and Abbreiona Edwars of Minneapolis;  a son James O. Williams Jr. of Crest Hill, Ill.;  four sisters, Alice Ewing, Evonne Ward, DoraAnne Ward and Shirley Thompson; and four brothers, Ben E. Williams, Glen Ward Jr., Stanley Burl and Glenn Willis, all of Grenada.
