Daphine Britt Blackwell
Funeral services for Daphine Britt Blackwell of Southaven were Monday in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel.
Ms. Blackwell died at Methodist Hospice in Hernando on Thursday, June 6, 2019. She was born in Grenada County on Dec. 17, 1941, to Dorsey E. and Loucille Ware Britt of Duck Hill. She was a graduate of Binford High School in Duck Hill. Ms. Blackwell was a retired payroll administration employee of Mississippi Department of Corrections and a member of DeSoto Hills Baptist Church in Southaven. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her daughter Brooke Blackwell Ott of Hernando; step-daughter Donna Pearson of Winona; stepson Richard Blackwell of Winona; three granddaughters; and a host of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private burial was at the Duck Hill Cemetery.

Carolyn B. Kilgore
Mrs. Carolyn B. Kilgore, 76, of Holcomb, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, at her daughter’s residence in Memphis.
She was born Dec. 12, 1942. Carolyn attended Holcomb Baptist Church and worked alongside her husband for many years in the family business, Kilgore Trucking. She also had retired as a Grenada County Election Commissioner and drove the Kirk Academy school bus from Holcomb for a number years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev. Kevin Tribble officiating. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery near Pope. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday all at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include her daughter Tonya Ashworth (Daniel, Jr.) of Memphis and one granddaughter Nyssa Ashworth of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odie Bryant and Alvie Sanders Baker, and her husband Bubba Kilgore.

Walter Ray Tidwell
Funeral services for Walter Ray Tidwell, 71, of Coffeeville, were Monday at the Grenada Church of God.
Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery in Yalobusha County.
Mr. Tidwell died Saturday, June 8, 2019, at his home. He was born on Aug. 3, 1947, in Lafayette County and was the son of the late Samuel Joe Sirius Tidwell and Ida Lillian Davis Tidwell.
Ray was employed by Borg-Warner/Holly for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member the Grenada Church of God.
Mr. Tidwell was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Sammie Tidwell and Homer Tidwell, and three sisters, Billie Stark, Estelle Turner and Marie Dulin.
He is survived by his wife June Tidwell of Coffeeville; one daughter Valerie Phillips of West Monroe, La.; one son Travis Joey Tidwell of Monroe, La.; three step-sons, David Hoop and Danny Hoop of Coffeeville and Lee Hoop of Grenada; one sister Betty Respess of Water Valley; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
