Katie Lee Harris

Funeral services for Katie Lee Harris of Grenada, native of Riverdale, are Friday at 1 p.m. at Faith and Grace M. B. Church with burial in Green Goshen Cemetery in Coffeeville.
Mrs. Harris, 81, died of natural causes at her home on May 5, 2019. She was born on Jan. 3, 1938. Mrs. Harris was a retired laborer of Heatcraft. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching horse racing.
Mrs. Harris is survived by four daughters,  Regina Blackmon, and Rhonda Hubbard, both of Grenada; Rachel Clark of Douglas, Ga., and Cynthia Berry of Byram; son Rodwin Hubbard of Atlanta;  sister, Juanita Hughes of Grenada, and two brothers, Will Hubbard and George Hubbard, both of Grenada.

John Walter Herring

Funeral services for John Walter Herring of Charleston are Saturday at 11 a.m. at First John M. B. Church.
Mr. Herring, 69, died of cardiac arrest at University Hospital in Jackson on May 5, 2019. He was born on Sept. 14, 1949.  Mr. Herring was a truck driver and a graduate of Amanda Elzy High School.
Mr. Herring is survived by his wife Lois Herring of Charleston;  son Frederick Simmons of Charleston; two sisters, Gladys M. Pruitt of Schlater, and Ruby Sanders of Drew, and two brothers, Charles E. Herring of Drew and Frank James Herring of Brandon.

Willie P. Jackson

Mary Elizabeth Lane

Mary Elizabeth Lane, 81, of Atlanta, Ga., passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019.
Born Oct. 18, 1937 in Scobey, she was the daughter of the late William Marshall Lane and Cora Taylor Lane. Mary spent most of her life in Memphis and the last eight years in Atlanta.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Sally Lane Harper of Starkville (formerly of Grenada), and Peggy Lane Muller and her husband Peter of Atlanta; sisters-in-law, Jean Lane of Delaware, Ohio, and Mary Sue Lane of Mocksville, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Steve Lane, Andrew Lane, Marshall Lane, Sarah Lane Speese, Dr. Peter J. Mulle  III, Laura Louise Muller, Cathy Godwin and Robin Jones; her loving caregiver Delores Brooks and many more loving family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Purvis Nason Lane and Charles Andrew Lane; a brother-in-law Dr. John David Harper; and a nephew David Lane Harper.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, at Smith Cemetery, in the Rosebloom Community of Tallahatchie County under the direction of McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service – Grenada.

Samantha Katherine Rankin

Samantha Katherine Rankin, Grenada High School senior, died tragically in a car accident on Sunday, May 5, 2019, in Whiteville, Tenn., while driving to go skydiving.
Samantha is survived by her parents, Keri and Chris Rankin of Baldwyn and Grenada, and her sister and brother, Michelle and Andrew Rankin. She was the great-granddaughter of Mary Collier, granddaughter of Roy and Fran Collier, and niece of Chrissy Underwood of Olive Branch. She was the granddaughter of Jim and Paula Rankin, niece of Darlene and Tony Miles, cousin to Makenzie Miles of Hurley, Miss.; niece of Jeff and Amy Rankin, cousin to Hannah and Beka Rankin of Travelers Rest, S.C.; niece of Robynn Rankin, Scott and Wendy Rankin and cousin of Austin Rankin of Pascagoula.
Samantha was born in Baton Rouge, La., on Feb. 13, 2001. She attended Olive Branch Schools from second to eighth grade and Grenada High School from ninth to 12th. At GHS, she was member of the French Club, 30+club, Anchor Club, Key Club, vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Academic Team, Superintendent’s List, Drum Major of the GHS Marching Band. She received numerous awards including, the highest average in Sociology, French I and II, Outstanding Senior Class Representative, Hardest Worker Award and Featured Piccolo Player. She was also inducted into the GHS Hall of Fame.
Samantha was set to graduate GHS on May 24, 2019, and was enrolled to attend MSU, majoring in chemistry, with the goal to work for NASA.
Samantha was an animal lover, specifically her cat Luna. She played the flute, piccolo, ukulele, piano and guitar. She was an artist, musician and avid-reader. She was a Christian who reflected the values of Jesus and loved others deeply. The circles she touched were wide and vast. She was well-loved and respected by her peers as a leader. She lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, acquaintances and anyone who crossed her path.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May, 10, in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors (5281 Cliff Gookin Blvd, Tupelo). Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be private.

Ms. Wyatt, 20,  and her daughter, 2, died on May 4, 2019, in a traffic accident. Dyamon was born on Dec. 9, 1998. Summar was born Aug. 13, 2016.
