Vincent Charles Brown, 53, died Sunday, April 21, 2019, at his home in Charleston.
Mr. Brown was born on Oct. 4, 1965, in Charleston to Wilson Booker and Sadie Brown. He was a floor tech at Tallahatchie General Hospital.
Funeral services are Saturday, April 27, at 1 p.m. at Abundant Harvest Church of God In Christ in Charleston. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Mary Katherine Bugg

Graveside services for Mary Katherine Bugg, 64, of Holcomb, are at 2 p.m., Monday, April 29, at Sparta Cemetery near Holcomb.
Kathy died Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at UMMC Jackson. She was born on June 13, 1954, and was the daughter of James and Frances Sanford.
Mrs. Bugg was employed for many years as a secretary/receptionist in a doctor‘s office. She was a member of the Hillside Baptist Church at Holcomb. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Leon Carter Bugg.
She is survived by her daughter Candice Sullivan and her husband Tim; one son Richard Bugg; and three grandchildren, Danial Coward, Allen Carter Sullivan and Mary-Alice Sullivan, all of Holcomb.

Harris Randall ‘Boots’ Dunn

Funeral services for Harris Randall “Boots“ Dunn, 66, of Grenada were Thursday at Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Grenada Memorial Gardens.
Boots died Monday, April 22, 2019, at UMMC Grenada. He was born on Sept. 27, 1952, in Calhoun County and was the son of the late Norman and Grace Lester Dunn.
Boots was employed by Heatcraft as a fabricator/welder for more than 32 years until his retirement. He was a member Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his parents and a son Jeremy Matthew Dunn.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Matthews Dunn of Grenada; one son Jason Randall Dunn of Grenada; two sisters, Charlotte Pollan and her husband John of Scobey, and Lagathia Boyett and her husband Rick of Grenada; one grandson Austin Lee Dunn of Grenada.

Roy Lee ‘R.L.’ Dixon

Mr. Roy Lee ‘R.L.’ Dixon of Grenada went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, while surrounded by his loving family.
R.L. was born on April 15, 1934, to William Arthur and Zettie Hubbard Dixon. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. He was co-owner of Shaw’s Meat Company in Grenada for many years and had worked in the meat business for over 60 years. He truly enjoyed seeing all of his customers through the years, up until his retirement at age 83. He dearly loved his family, loved His Lord and will surely be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 26, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev. James McElroy and the Rev. Howard Beam officiating. Interment will follow in the Oddfellows Cemetery in Grenada. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include his wife Mary Mabry Dixon; his daughter Mitzi Rowland (Kenneth) of Oakland; son Steve Dixon (Launa), of Grenada; one sister Frances Austin of Grenada; two brothers, James Dixon of Clinton and Marvin Dixon of Senatobia; six grandchildren, B.J. Dixon, Josh Coaten (Tanya), Mallory Tilghman (John), Lindsey Byford (Robbie Pruitt), Karrie Byford and Trey Walters; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 52 years Rebecca Dixon and a daughter Lisa Dixon Hood.

James Paxton Lowrimore

Master James Paxton Lowrimore, 4-day old infant son of Daniel Keith Lowrimore and Leanna Renee Bennett, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Jackson.
He was born Good Friday, April 19, and though his time on Earth was short, he will be sorely missed by his family and the many who loved him.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, at Clear Springs Cemetery in Yalobusha County with the Rev. Earl Flemons officiating.
In addition to his parents, Master Lowrimore is survived by a brother Nicholas Lowrimore of Grenada; grandparents, John and Mary Nell Lowrimore of Coffeeville, Eddie Bennett of Grenada, Wendy Cook of Carrollton and Lonnie Hungate of Olive Branch; and great-grandparents, Therrell and Janie Turner of Carrollton and Punk and Nadine Bennett of Duck Hill, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Lowrimore and Brent Philyaw.

Ruby Frances Voyles Martin

Mrs. Ruby Frances Voyles Martin, 77, of Grenada, passed away Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019, at her residence.
She was born April 7, 1942, in Dentontown to Robert Eldridge and Mayford Frances Reynolds Voyles. She was a retired beautician and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Wednesday at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev. Eugene Heimbach officiating. Interment was in the Grenada Memorial Garden.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years John Sidney Martin; two daughters, Amanda Duke (Glen) of Grenada and Julie Martin of Tupelo; two step-daughters, Johnnie Harrison of Grenada and Kathy Williamson (Stanley) of Rosebloom; three sisters, Barbara Little of Grenada, Shirley Melton of Grenada and Celeste Jackson of Carroll County; two brothers, Robert Voyles (Letha) of Grenada and Jerry Voyles of Texas; two grandchildren, Michelle McCarley (Harry) and Payton Duke, both of Grenada; a great-grandchild, Olivia McCarley of Grenada; and a host of step-grand and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ruth Baker and Linda McMahan.
Pallbearers were Glen Duke, Payton Duke, Timothy Jackson, Curry Little and Harry McCarley.

Ruth Lee McMillian, 93, of Eupora died April 23, 2019, at the Eupora Medical Center.

Mary ‘Maypop’ Starks

Funeral services for Mary O. “Maypop” Starks of Grenada are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Abundant Life Assembly of the Apostolic Faith Church with burial in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Starks, 67, died of cardiac arrest on April 23, 2019, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born on July 31, 1951. Mrs. Starks graduated from Carrie Dotson High School and was a claims representative for the Social Security Administration. She was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Church of God in Christ and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and working in her church.
Mrs. Starks is survived by her husband Charles Starks of Grenada; two daughters, Pamela T. Shannon of Olive Branch and Shaquita Starks of Memphis; son Dedric Starks of Memphis; eight sisters, Patricia Lynch of Oakland, Calif., Dorothy Trotter of Chicago, Regina Williams of Oakland, Verniette Dorris of Lancaster, Calif., Ruth Eiland of Grand Prairie, Texas, Stephanie Dampier of York, Penn., and Dorcas Tucker and Brenda Trotter, both of Grenada; four brothers, Ulysses Trotter Jr. and Dexter Trotter, both of Grenada, Leslie Thomas of Smyrna, Ga., and Richard Trotter of Grand Prairie, Texas.

Georgia White
Georgia White, 107, died April 23, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Ms. White was born April 24, 1912. She lived in Water Valley her entire life. She was the baby child of 14 siblings and outlived them all. Throughout her life she worked as a sharecropper and at Water Valley Cleaners for many years. Ms. White had six children of her own.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 26, at Bayson Chapel M.B. Church, Water Valley from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, at Bayson Chapel M.B. Church at noon and the internment will follow at the church cemetery.

Sheila Woodall

Funeral services for Sheila Woodall of Grenada are Saturday at 11 a.m at Covenant House Word of Faith Ministries Church.
Ms. Woodall, 54, died at her home on April 17, 2019. She was born on Jan. 21, 1965. Ms. Woodall was a graduate of Grenada High School. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino.
Ms. Woodall is survived by her daughter Enessie Woodall of Grenada; son Reggie Woodall of Grenada; and three sisters, Nina Jolliff of Grenada, Claudia Carter and Sherian Williams, both of Pontiac, Mich.

Lois Spratlin Young

Lois Spratlin Young died April 9, 2019, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison.
A memorial service will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce on April 27 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery.
A native of Calhoun County, Lois was born on Aug. 28, 1927, in the Loyd community to Earlie Arthur and Esther Stewart Spratlin. She was married in 1949 to her childhood sweetheart Hollie Spencer Young. Lois and Hollie Spencer lived in Calhoun City until their move to Atlanta in 1975. After Hollie’s untimely death in 1986, she moved to Grenada to be closer to family. While in Grenada, she was a member of First Baptist Church.
In 2014 she moved to St. Catherine’s Village in Madison. In every city where she lived, Lois developed many close friendships that were her joy and delight. She deeply loved her family, and she had a servant’s heart for caregiving others. Her home was always the center for fun filled family gatherings.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Carolyn Young Goodson of Grenada, and her sisters, Elvira Vanlandingham, Earlene Barnes, Hortense McKelroy and Bonnie Bennett, all of Bruce.
She is survived by her sons, Joe Young (Beth) of Ridgeland, and Sid Young (Julie) of Lilburn, Ga.
