James ‘Jim’ Baker

James Atkinson “Jim” Baker, 74, of Grenada, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Grenada.

Funeral services for Emma Loney of Gore Springs are Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Pleasant Grove M. B. Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Loney, 74, died on April 17, 2019, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Memphis. She was born on April 16, 1945.
Mrs. Loney is survived by her daughter Josephine Hubbard of Gore Springs;  two sisters, Freddie L. Hubbard of Gore Springs and Lula H. Burns of Grenada; and three brothers, Milton Hubbard Jr. of East St. Louis, Ill., Johnny Hubbard and James D. Hubbard, both of Gore Springs.

Leona Bell Meeks

Funeral services for Leona Bell Meeks of Winona will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Winona Church of God, with burial following in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, April 19, from 5 until 8 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home; and Saturday, April 20, from 1 p.m. until service time, at the church.
Mrs. Meeks, 91, died at her home on April 17, 2019. She was born on Dec. 27, 1927, to John Henry and Fannie Mae Livingston Ledford. She was a retired manufacturing company employee and a member of the Winona Church of God.   Mrs. Meeks was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Meeks; three sons, Jerone Lindley, Jamie Lindley and Wayne Lindley, and her parents.
Mrs. Meeks is survived by her daughter, Shirley L. Smith of Winona; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her church family at Winona Church of God.

Tarian LaTray Robinson

Services for Tarian LaTray Robinson, formerly of Duck Hill, are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Abundant Life Assembly, 1188 Cathey Drive, Grenada
Mr. Robinson, 43, died April 11, 2019, at his home in Tennessee surrounded by loved ones.
“Tray” Robinson was born Aug. 29, 1975, in Grenada to Verlene Miers Robinson and the Luther Paul (Hound) Robinson. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife Tasha Robinson of Cordova, Tenn.; three children, Anecia Robinson and Atarian Robinson of Grenada and Kalani White of Cordova, Tenn.; his mother, Verlene Miers Robinson of Duck Hill; his paternal grandparents Shed and Mattie Robinson of Duck Hill; two brothers, Tolanda Miers and Shedrick (Sherry) Robinson of Duck Hill; mother-in-law Annie Woods of Winona; father-in-law Robert White of Memphis. He also leaves a niece and a host of nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends to celebrate his life.
Interment will be at Wilkins Chapel Baptist Church, 57 Branscome Road, Duck Hill. The repast will be at Abundant Life Assembly.

Edgar L. Townes

Funeral services for Edgar L. Townes of Grenada are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion M. B. Church with burial in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Townes, 67, died of natural causes on April 9, 2019, at Grenada Living Center.  He was born on Aug. 27, 1951.
Mr. Townes is survived by his daughter Tara Bradley of Grenada;  three sisters, Patsy Davis, Lela Avery and Fannie Tillmon, all of Grenada;  and three brothers, Joe Townes Jr. of Lorton, Va., James Townes and Sammie Townes, both of Memphis.

Evelyn Shivers Turner

Funeral services for Evelyn J. Shivers Turner of Grenada, formerly of Gary, Ind., are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Burning Bush M.B. Church.
Mrs, Turner, 72, died on April 10, 2019. She was born on March 29, 1947. Mrs. Turner loved the Lord and was a loving mother. She was a former Wal-Mart associate, a member of Eastern Star, and a dedicated servant on the Usher Board for many years. Mrs. Turner enjoyed cooking and baking, cross-stitching and adult coloring.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her daughter Latanya Turner of Grenada; son Stephen Turner Jr. of Gary, Ind.; four sisters, Debra Stidman and Yvette Nash, both of Gary, Ind., Collette Hackman of Merrillville, Ind., and Willette Cample of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and two brothers, Stephen Shivers of Gary, Ind., and Shawn Shivers of Minneapolis.
