Grenada High School began the stretch run of the 2019 tennis season Tuesday taking part in the Region 2-5A Tournament hosted at PNC Park in Oxford.
Teams from Grenada, Lafayette, Saltillo and West Point competed for spots in the state tournament next month. The winner and runnerup in each division get to take part in the event.
It turned out to be one of the better days for the Chargers as they qualified in five of the seven divisions. One team won their respective division.
Micah Williams and Heidi Clark won the mixed doubles title with two wins.
They opened action with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Cole Ross and Lilli Baird of West Point. In the finals, Williams and Clark cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Logan Irwin and Autumn McHenry of Saltillo.
