Lake levee closed to traffic

Officials at Grenada Lake are again monitoring the rising water and have closed the levee to traffic during the process.
With the lake level at 226.74 Tuesday morning, high water monitoring is underway by Corps of Engineers. Detour signs direct drivers to the bottom of the levee to prevent travel on the top road.
“Once it gets to 226 feet, we have to close the levee, and it’s rising,” said Chris Terry, natural resource manager at Grenada Lake. “We’ve closed the road so that we can safely monitor the lake from the levee.”
The emergency spillway overflows at 231 feet.
