Gwendolyn ‘Dale’ Crawford

Gwendolyn Odell McCharon “Dale” Crawford, 84, of Grenada passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019, in Oxford.
She was born Oct. 24, 1934, in Ponotoc to Silas McCharon and Gladys Pearl McGregor McCharon Taylor. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was an inspector for Pennaco Hosiery.
Funeral services were Sunday at First United Methodist Church. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.
Survivors include her three children, Thomas Fisher “Tommy” Crawford of Hernando, Lisa Alford and Karol Haley of Grenada; six grandchildren, Christy Caulder, Ben Gillon, Stephanie Edmondson, Cory Crawford, Robert (River) Hemingway and Jessica Lynn Montz, and 10 great grandchildren: sister Shirley Bishop of San Antonio and step-sister Bonnie Baldwin of Tyler, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fisher C. Crawford Jr., step-father Claude Taylor and brother Thomas Harold McCharon.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.

Shay Bray Gillon

Funeral services for Shay Bray Gillon, 46, of Water Valley were Saturday at the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Cambridge Cemetery near Abbeville.
Shay died Monday, April 1, 2019, at Regional One Health in Memphis. She was born on Feb. 6, 1973, in Oxford and was the daughter of William “Bill“ Bray and Willene Black Bray.
Shay was a nurse and was employed by Grenada Rehabilitation and Health Care as a department director.
She was preceded in death by her father, her grandfather Paul Edward “Pepaw“ Black, her aunt Vera Bray and her uncle Glenn Bray.
Shay is survived by a daughter Chelsea Lynette Slaughter of Holcomb; a son John Christopher Gillon of Grenada; grandchildren, Adalyn Leigh Slaughter and Brock Neal Slaughter of Holcomb; mother Willene Bray of Pine Bluff, Ark.; grandmother Willie Mae “Memaw” Black of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one sister Jamie Bray Phillips of Bryant, Ark.; three brothers, Jonathan Bray and Jason Bray of Grenada and Jack Bray of Greenbrier, Ark.; and her ex-husband John Franklin Gillon of Grenada.
