One man is dead following a Wednesday night shooting, and the Grenada Police Department is investigating it as their first homicide of the year.
Assistant Police Chief Maj. George Douglas identified the victim as Isiaha Triplett, 21, of Grenada.
According to Douglas, officers responded to a call of a shooting at the Washington Garden Apartments in the 800 block of Washington Street shortly before 10 o’clock. When officers arrived at the scene they found Triplett, who was shot multiple times, lying near a vehicle.
The car was a newer-model Ford Mustang, believed to be owned by Triplett. Police said Triplett did not reside at the apartment complex.
“The victim was found in the parking lot at the apartments and was pronounced dead at the scene,” Douglas said.
Douglas would not comment on the exact number of times that Triplett was shot and said the Mississippi State Crime Lab is now performing an autopsy.
