Ollie Ruth Cross

Ollie Ruth Gillis Cross, 85, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at her residence.
She was born April 13, 1933, in Lee County to James and Mary Norris Springer. She worked as a clerk for many years at Gibson’s.
Graveside services were Saturday, March 16, at Springhill Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons: Steve Gillis (Linda), Roger Allen Gillis (Judy) of Grenada and Donald Gillis (Sharon) of Kerrville, Texas; daughter-in-law, Jan Gillis of Grenada; nine grandchildren, Marie G. Brown, Tim Gillis (Amanda), Jennifer Gillis, Amanda Ables (Earl), Dennis Busby (Jenni), Tanya Coaten (Josh), Melissa Gillis, Earl Gillis and David Gillis; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother Frank Springer; a sister Jenny Vest and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands; Charles Elijah Gillis and Jessup Cross, and one son James Benton Gillis “Jim”.
The family would like to thank Sunflower Home Health and Legacy Hospice (Jo Morman) for their kindness and compassion during our difficult time.

Eugene Sims

Mr. Eugene “Rooster” Sims, 76, of Coffeeville, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019, at his residence.
He was born March 13, 1943, in Kountze, Texas, to Thomas and Nora Grace Garcee Sims.  He was a retired crane operator.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Family and friends will gather from 4 p.m. until service time Tuesday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include his wife Clara Malone Sims; five daughters, Elizabeth Collier (Len) of Seabrook, Texas, Tracy Baxter of Wadsworth, Ohio, Jackie Summers of Coffeeville, Cherre Sims (Derek) of Oakland, and Kelli Calder (Jerry Martin) of Grenada; three sons, Walter Felscher of Coffeeville, Mike Hennessee (Annie) of Dayton, Texas, and Jerre Wayne Strother of Wadsworth, Ohio; 23 grandchildren, Megan Stegall, Mason Teel, Josh Knight, Jessica Knight, Jason Knight, Jennifer Knight, Jerre Lee Strother, Tori Strother, Thomas Collier, Tera Collier, Cheney Collier, Robert Baxter, Andrew Baxter, Hayley Baxter, James Hollis Summers, Samantha Sims, Rebecca Simmons, Nicholas Simmons, Ashley Calder, Alex Calder, Chad Martin, Randy Calder and Harlie Calder; 26 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son James Hollis Sims; nine brothers, one sister and a son-in-law Bobby Summers.

Patricia Ann Vance

Mrs. Patricia Ann “Patsy” Hathcock Vance, 78, of Grenada, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, in Batesville.
She was born Jan. 14, 1941, in Winona to Benny Lee and Mary Frances Doster Hathcock. She was a devoted homemaker and a member of Elliott Baptist Church.
Aside from her love for her family, she will be remembered as an avid dog and cat lover.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev. Billy Little officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Cemetery in Tallahatchie County.
Family and friends will gather from noon until service time Wednesday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include one daughter Karen Vance of Grenada; one brother Eugene Hathcock of Winona; five grandchildren, Lee Vance, Andrew Roberts, Alicia Smith, Joshua Roberts and Kayden Ashmore; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Vance, Levi Smith, Kenzi Smith and Dominic Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Vance; one daughter Rhonda Trusty; two sons Tracy Lynn Vance and Robert Vance; one sister Susan Evans and one brother Glenn Hathcock.
