Funeral services for Jimmy Lee “City Bill” Beck of Grenada were Saturday, Feb. 23, at Clark-Williams Funeral Home with burial in Haven Rest.
Mr. Beck, 67, died at Grace Health and Rehab on Feb. 15, 2019. He was born on Nov. 17, 1954. Mr. Beck enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Beck is survived by his sister Diane Topps of Grenada and brother Willie Sanders Beck of Sacramento, Calif.

Marcus C. Grimes
Marcus Cleveland Grimes Jr., 92, of Grenada, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, in Hoover, Ala.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service.
Silas Dubard Massey
Funeral services for Silas DuBard “Matt” Massey of Kilmichael will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Winona.
Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Kilmichael, with military honors at graveside. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Massey, 85, died at Life Pointe Village in Southaven on Feb. 26, 2019. He was born in Zama, Miss., on Feb. 6, 1934, to John E. and Myrtle DuBard Massey. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring after 20 years of service with the rank of Sergeant First Class. During his time in the Army he earned several medals and commendations, including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Massey owned and operated a machine tool service and sales business for many years. He was a member and deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church near Kilmichael and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Mr. Massey is survived by three sons, Michael Massey of Biloxi, Tony Massey of Horn Lake and Greg Massey of Greenwood; sisters, Jane Magnusson of Minnesota and Anna Louise Jones (Jimmy) of Grenada; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Patty Hovas Massey; son Mark Dewayne Massey; his parents; one sister and two brothers.

Frank Shaw Jr., 60, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Calhoun Co. Nursing Home.
His funeral will be held on Friday, March 1, at 11 a.m at Bridges Chapel M.B. Church.

Sam Hilliard Vickers
Sam Hilliard Vickers, 85, of Alvin, Texas, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, in Houston, Texas.
Sam was born on June 21, 1933, in Ruleville and was a resident of Itta Bena, until moving to Alvin 11 years ago. He worked for many years in the trucking industry for MS Carriers. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a communications officer that sent and received Morse Code.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ruby Lee Vickers, wife Ginny “Memee” Vickers, and son Steve Vickers.
Sam is survived by his wife Mary Vickers; daughter Vicky Clark and husband Jimmy; son Chris Vickers and wife Donna,; step-daughter Pam Yarborough and husband Tim; step-sons, Don Carmeans and wife Robin, Wayne Carmeans and wife Kathy, and Kevin Carmeans and wife Markay; sister Josephine Gullett, brother James Lewis Vickers and wife Shirley; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood with funeral services to follow immediately. The Rev. Chris Owensby will officiate.
Interment will follow in Itta Bena Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gray Vickers, Eric Vickers, David Hodges Jr., Scott Hodges, Will Hodges and Ryan Hodges.

Herman D. Ward
Funeral services for Herman D. Ward of Grenada are Friday at 1 p.m. at Greater Pine Hill M.B. Church with burial in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Ward, 76, died on Feb. 18, 2019, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife Minnie P. Ward of Grenada; four daughters, Tanisha Fox Ward of Joliet, Ill., Nasha Ward and Syreeta Ward, both of Jackson, and Peaches Ward of Grenada; son, Herman D. Ward Jr.; two sisters, Erma L. Logan of Atlanta and Joyce Brown of Grenada; and brother, Johnny Ward of Grenada.

Funeral services for Devirge “Dee” Watt of Bellwood, Ill., formerly of Grenada, are Saturday March 2, at 11 a.m. at Burning Bush M.B. Church with burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Carroll County.
Mr. Watt, 73, died at his home in Bellwood, on Feb. 18, 2019.
He was a graduate of Carrie Dotson High School Class of 1963 and served in the United States Army.
He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Graham and Floyd Smith of Chicago and Toris Tolbert of Grenada; two daughters, Lavette Loyd and Monique Scott of Chicago; two brothers, Sylvester Watt of Grenada and Jacob Watt of Holcomb; three sisters, Genell Watt and Claudia Stevens of Chicago and Gloria Tidwell of Holcomb.
