Ernest Mitchell Braswell

(Jan. 15, 1940 – Feb. 3, 2019) Graveside services for Ernest Mitchell Braswell of Grenada were Wednesday at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery near Kilmichael.
Pallbearers were Todd Melton, Lee Worsham, Michael Sanford, Ryan Melton, Bradley Sanford, and Taylor Worsham.  Honorary pallbearer was Jeremy Braswell.
Mr. Braswell, 79, died at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019. He was born  on Jan. 15, 1940, in Poplar Creek to Malvis Ernest “Ben” and Willie Mae Harkins Braswell. He was the former owner of Goodyear Tire and Appliance in Grenada and served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. Mr. Braswell was a Mason and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Braswell of Grenada; three daughters, Sherry Worsham (Lee) of Grenada, Cindy Sanford (Michael) of Grenada and Tina Melton (Todd) of Saltillo; sister Peggy Black of Atlanta,; brother Dewey Lane Braswell (Sue) of Clinton; three grandchildren, Taylor Worsham (Kelsey), Bradley Sanford, and Ryan Melton; and one great-grandson Bryson Worsham.

Lucy Mae Bridges

Funeral services for Lucy Mae Bridges of Grenada are Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter M.B. Church with burial in Haven Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Bridges, 85, died on Feb. 4, 2109. She was born on April 8, 1933. Mrs. Bridges was a member of the Oxberry Court #496 Heroines of Jericho for 61 years.
Mrs. Bridges is survived by two daughters, Karolyn Bridges-Jordan of Jackson and Jacqueline B. Andrews of Stone Mountain, Ga.; three sons, Michael Bridges and Marquette Bridges, both of Grenada, and Anthony Bridges of Memphis;  a brother Major Bridges of Oklahoma.

Pilgrim Conley

Funeral services for Pilgrim Conley of Gore Springs are Friday at 11 a.m. at Little Rock M. B. Church with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Conley, 68, died at his home on February 1, 2019.

Christopher Lee Harcrow

Mr. Christopher Lee Harcrow, 47, of Coffeeville, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 28, 1971, in Macon, Miss. Chris had worked as a crew supervisor for many years at CAN USA Offshore Rope Access and attended Pine Grove Baptist Church. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Scarborough officiating. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Survivors include three sons, Taylor Harcrow of St. Petersburg, Fla., Chandon Harcrow of Houston and Dalton Harcrow of Florence; his mother Linda Winters of Big Creek; two sisters, Lisa Gray (Gaylon) of Coffeeville and Pam Lowe (Steve) of McShan, Ala.; four nieces, two nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

Raymond A. Hall

Funeral services for Raymond A. Hall, 87, of Grenada, are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery near Duck Hill.
Visitation is Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Mortimer National Funeral Home.
Mr. Hall died Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at his home. He was born on Sept. 29, 1931, in Bridgeton, N.J., to the late John Hall and Ethel Hand Hall.
Raymond was retired from the Bell South Telephone Company.  He was a member Southside Church of Christ and was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Kathleen Hood Hall.
He is survived by one sister-in-law Bobbie Hood Staten; one brother-in-law James Dale Hood; three nieces, Kathy Duncan, Linda Powell and Patricia Vasser; and five nephews, Todd Hood, Steve Hood, Clay Hood, Darren Hood and Troy Parker.

Gondyne Freeman Mullen

LEFLORE – Gondyne Freeman Mullen, 78, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada.
Funeral services are 11 a.m.. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Leflore Baptist Church with interment in Sparta Cemetery. The Rev. Stanley Turner and the Rev. Lanny Haley will officiate.  Visitation is at the church Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Gondyne was born in Greenwood to George W. and Lillian Opal Freeman. She was a 1958 graduate of Greenwood High School and a 1961 graduate of the Leflore Hospital School of Nursing. She was an active member of Leflore Baptist Church where she taught numerous Vacation Bible School Classes, GAs, helped establish the church Women’s Missionary Union and Baptist Missionary Union. She was secretary of the business meetings where she kept the church minutes.  She also was treasurer for the building fund and provided floral arrangements for the church for many years. She was a retired nurse and the widow of James Robert Mullen.
Mrs. Mullen is survived by two daughters, Marcia M. Sapp (Curtis) and Nanette M. Counts; three grandchildren, Blair Counts, Robert Sapp (Sara) and Michael Sapp and his fiancee, Summer Parker; four great grandchildren, Emily Sapp, Lincoln Sapp, Hadlee Parker and Brycen Sapp, all of Leflore.
Pallbearers will be Blake Henson, Anthony Henson, Drew Henson, Bradon Bailey, Casey Bailey, Taylor Holms and Jerry W. Sapp. Honorary pallbearers are Bro. Nathan Gorman, Bro. Shelly Livingston, Curtis Sapp, Robert Sapp and Michael Sapp.

Buck G. Ross Jr.

Funeral services for Buck G. Ross Jr. of Grenada, formerly of Tallahatchie County, are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Washington Street Church of Christ with burial in Jerusalem M. B. Church.
Mr. Ross, 71, died on Feb. 2, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was born on May 31, 1947. Mr. Ross received his high school diploma through the Grenada Adult Education Center. He enjoyed farming and hunting with his grandsons.
Mr. Ross is survived by his wife Lucy House Ross of Grenada;  two daughters, Laseggie Ross of Grenada and Alice Braxton Johnson of Memphis; three sons, Dexter Ross and Reggie Ross, both of Grenada, and Calvin Kimble of Charleston; six sisters, Joann Collins and Thelma Boyd, both of Memphis; Barbara Brooks, Christine Taylor  and Bessie Brooks, all of Charleston, and Minnie Quinn;  and two brothers, Joe Ross Sr. and Lugene Ross, both of Memphis.

Betty Rounsaville Miller

Betty Janice Rounsaville Miller, 86, of Grenada, passed away Feb. 4, 2019, at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson.
A native of Coffeeville, she was a long-time employee of Pennaco Hosiery, having retired in 1994. She was a devout member of the Van Dorn St. Church of Christ and was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Yalobusha County Historical Society.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Mary Louella Cook Rounsaville and Hillary Fred Rounsaville; by her husband Lorenza James Miller, and by two sisters, Freddie Rounsaville McMahon and Sudie Rounsaville Knortz; three brothers, William Rounsaville, Howard Rounsaville and Thomas Rounsaville.
She is survived by a son James Robert Miller, daughter-in-law Janet Kite Miller, and a host of nieces and nephews.  Betty was an outgoing, lovable person who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Bro. Joey Gafford officiating. Interment will follow in the Broadstreet Cemetery near Coffeeville.
The family will receive friends from noon until service time Friday at McKibben and Guinn.
