Frances Burton Aldridge

July 20, 1932 – Jan.13, 2019 – Services for Frances Burton Aldridge will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Mrs. Aldridge, 6, died on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
She was born on July 20, 1932, to the late Charlie and Omie Johnson Burton in Schlater and resided in Itta Bena most of her life. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Itta Bena and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Greenwood. She retired from Delta Parts after 20 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Billy E. Aldridge and a son Don Aldridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan (Andy) Cummings of Grenada; son Wayne (Michelle) Aldridge of Greenwood; brother Charles Burton of Carmack; and four grandchildren, Cassie Cummings, Caleb Cummings, Karle Aldridge and Roger Derrick Simpson Jr.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from noon until 2 p.m. at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. Randy Clayton and Caleb Cummings will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be Steve McCrimmon, Arvid Woodard, Tommy McCrory, Barry Corley, David Cummings and Chris Walker. Interment will follow in Itta Bena Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Itta Bena, First Baptist Church of Grenada, or Immanuel Baptist Church.

James Nelson Ashmore

Mr. James Nelson Ashmore, 69, of Grenada, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Greenwood to Albert R. and Martha Hortense Lott Ashmore. Mr. Ashmore was a member of Elliott Baptist Church, was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and was also a retired firefighter having worked for many years at the Clarksdale Fire Department.  Nelson was an avid outdoorsman, always enjoying the opportunity to bass fish or take a grandchild deer hunting. He was also a devoted fan of Mississippi State athletics.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Carroll County. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Thursday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include his wife Theresa Boyette Ashmore; one daughter Nicole Self (Brian) of McComb; three sons, Heath Ashmore (Maghan) of Cleveland, Brad Easley (Michelle) of Scobey and Blake Easley (Nicole) of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Brenda League and Anne Poirier, both of Missouri; and nine grandchildren, Garner Ashmore, Gray Ashmore, Sara Self, Sam Self, Lance Easley, Payton Easley, Adelyn Easley, Caleb Milam and Brayden Milam.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Glenn Ashmore.

Forest Fariss

Mr. Forest Fariss, 78, of Coffeeville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Select Specialty Hospital in Memphis.

Jessie Bradley Massey

Mr. Jesse Bradley “J.B.” Massey, 84, of Oakland, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada.
He was born Sept. 7, 1934, in Grenada to James Arthur and Floy Jane Craig Massey.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the Rev. Clay Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery near Tillatoba. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Wednesday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Frances Galloway Keathley and Mary Glynne Massey of Memphis; his nieces and nephews, Craig Galloway, Cindy Galloway Merritt, Jeffrey W. Massey and Leigh Anne Massey Murray, all of Memphis; James A. Massey III of Edmond, Okla.; C. Michael Massey of St Louis; Margaret Jane Beaty and Dudley C. Beaty of Bennettsville, S.C., and Melissa Joye of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Billie Jane Beaty and two brothers, Charles Galloway and James Arthur Massey Jr.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Massey, Jim Massey, Brent Bowman, Brian Bowman, Will Hill, Will Rose and Mark Hartley.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to friends who lovingly saw to the care of J.B., especially Tommie Hill and family and Mark Mattox and family.
